THE FRESH WATER’S WAY TO ÅKERSBERGA (STOCKHOLM) FROM GÖRVÄLN (MÄLAREN)
This is the way the water takes from Mälaren to Åkersberga. The red line in the middle of the image is representing the way.
The process in the water plant: • Intake water pipe – The water get sucked up into the water plant. • Basket sand strainer - The heaviest pollutions (like sand and bigger particles) disappears by going through a large grill. • Pump – The pump bring the water to the different elements. • Mix channel - Different kinds of chemicals mixes into the water. • Flocculation cantainer – Here the chemicals make the dust go togheter to bigger lumps, by stirring in the container • Sedimention tank – The lumps goes together to a viscous gew • Sand filter - The filter takes avay the gew that has been formed • Pump – Here is another kined of pump, but simular to the first. • Small particle filter – Here all the smaller particles takes away from the water (now it's suppose to be claen) • UV-light reactor – The reactor findes out if there are any dust or pollutions left in the water. • Lime and chlorine add – In this element they put necessary chemiclaes into the water. • Clean water – Now the water is clean and go through a pump out of water plant.
Now Norrortsvatten takes over and transports the water all the way to Åkersberg.
THE WATERTOWE OF ÅKERSBERGA The water comes to Åkersberga’s watertower and stores there. By the watertower the water goes to the garvity to the homes.
When we have consumed the water it goes down to the drains and then it punpes into a treatment plant, where it gets purified. The water we in Åkersberga have used goes to a treatment plant in Margretelund.
THE PROCESS • First process - Rough treatment In the clearing grill can the water pass through the grill wich purifies it. The biggest objects get stuck here. After that the water continues till a “sand-catcher” there the heavier pollution stays. The pollution that remains goes to the garbage dump. • Second process - mechanical/chemical cleaning The wastewater containing phosphates and other impurities (phosphate is included in for example detergent).Chemical purification means that we appoint the metal salt, aluminium or iron or sometimes limestone or lime. In that way are we taking away the pollutions in the water. In the last two elements the mud and dust sinks to the bottom and then the water is pure.
THE END NOW THE WATER FINALY COMES OUT TO TRÄLHAVET, AND THEN IT IS PURIFIED
