Activities Since September 2013 • Renovations/Improvements
Activities Since September 2013 • Teaching and Learning in the MARC • Podiatry • Physical Therapy • Occupational Therapy • Faculty Organization • Research Rounds
Activities Since September 2013 • Research Projects • The effect of chronic ankle instability (CAI) on gait dynamics and muscle activation patterns during planned and unplanned changes-of-direction during normal, level-ground walking – Smith (PI) • Effects of an adjustable foot orthotic on lower limb biomechanics – Smith (PI), Dutra & Lynn • A study of the biomechanical exposure and risk for lumbar and upper extremity injuries in hotel room cleaners while making luxurious beds with and without a mattress lift tool – Harris-Adamson (PI)
Activities Since September 2013 • Research Projects • An investigation of the efficacy of time-series ankle joint stiffness calculations under challenging sway, visual, and base-of-support balancing conditions – Smith (PI) • Understanding the ‘edge effect’ in podiatric wound care management: methods study (CSPM student-initiated project) – Smith (Advisor) • Orthotic interventions for prevention of ACL injuries in adolescent, female athletes (CPSM student co-investigator) – Smith (Advisor)
Future Directions • Community access to MARC • Mechanisms • Cost recovery • Expand faculty and student use of MARC • Existing host units (CSPM, PT, OT) • Nursing • Physician Assistant • Increase external research stakeholders • Cal Berkeley, Cal East Bay, UCSF • Clinicians
