A multicultural independent country. Why did you come to C anada ?. Long ago in the 1890’s there were similar reasons . Fertile sections of land were available for free. They wanted new and easier machines to produce their crops. The underprivileged wanted more and better opportunities. .

  2. Why did you come to Canada ?

  3. Long ago in the 1890’s there were similar reasons

  4. Fertile sections of land were available for free. They wanted new and easier machines to produce their crops. The underprivileged wanted more and better opportunities. They wanted faster and cheaper transportation for their goods. They wanted to escape poor economic conditions. They did not want to be effected by political situations. Home children were given suitable living conditions. .

  5. But how did they find out about Canada ? .

  6. Clifford Sifton He was assigned the job of attracting the immigrants

  8. Sifton had a phrase that was used to advertise Canada

  9. The Last Best West

  10. This term was used because all of the land in the west was used therefore these pieces of land were the last.

  11. This led to the Dominion land act in 1872 The dominion land act gave 160 acres for free with only a $10 admission fee for the farmer .

  12. Clifford Sifton succeeded in his mission to attract immigrants by 1914 he had engaged about 750 000 American immigrants to Canada

  13. All of the immigrants made a great decision by moving to Canada, because Canada is a wonderful, independent country.
