Punk ideologies are usually expressed through punk rock music, punk literature, spoken word recordings, punk fashion and visual arts Many punks have participated in direct action, such as protests, boycotts, squatting, vandalism or property destruction.
Punk was an expression of nonconformity , as well as opposition to both main stream and hippie culture It displayed aggression, rebellion and individualism. They also wore a lot of tattoos that indicated their beliefs . They opposed abandoning of one’s values in exchange to wealth . “selling out”. The DIY ( do it yourself) ideal was started and promoted by them.
