The first trend I have choosen is the military style jacket worn by music icon Jimi Hendrix in the 1960’s rock era. For decades, music and fashion have gone hand in hand and many artists showed the personality of their music by what they wore and how they wore it. Hendrix was well known for his unique style and impeccable sense of fashion. He gave a completely new meaning to the rock and roll trend in the 1960’s, giving a sharp and glamorous edge to it. His style had a bohemian feel and he had a collection of military inspired jackets which set a trend. Jimi wore genuine vintage military jackets purchased from vintage clothing stores, accentuated with tassels, gold buttons on the front panels, silk embroidery or embellishements and epaulettes. Silk embroidery & stitching or embellishments on front panels with gold buttons. Mandarin style collar with buttons or hooks to close but traditionally was always worn open by Hendrix.

Jimi Hendrix’s style has inspired fashion designers, celebrities and stylists for decades. He was a free spirit in his style, a real original who mixed military, bohemian , western and rock styles together. His style represented the era he lived in. It’s a mixture of 2 major influences of the time: eclectic boho and hard rock yet he set a trend that has continued over time. . How Hendrix wore the military trend, that influenced fashion, has come in and out of trends in recent years, especially within the music industry and has been seen in collections by Marc Jacobs, Moschino, Burberry, Jason Wu and Alexander McQueen as well as in the high street shops like Topshop, Sportsgirl , Urban Outfitters and Glassons. Music celebraties, like Beyonce, Kayne West, Chris Martin and Rhianna have also been seen supporting the Hendrix Military trend. The simialirities of this trend from the 1960’s and recent years is the retro band look mixed with army-style clothing .Military style jackets can be found in a large range of styles, at price that is affordable for any person. After being seen on the catwalk models from New York and Milan Fashion Weeks, these jackets began appearing on celebrities and became desired by more and more people. Military jackets are well fitted with a drapery T-shirt and jeans and show your hip personality and keep you trendy. The length is usually between mid and high hip and many of the styles have a nipped in waist. The jackets often have a high neck- mandarin collar. Along both sides of the front is a row of brass raised buttons. There are often a range of six to ten decorative buttons on each side panel along with jewel embellishments or embroidered silk. There are also tab shoulders with buttons or epaulettes. The coat often closes with hidden hook and eyes.
There is something paradoxical about military fashion and many people are bending towards this great trend. Usually, military clothing was designated like a uniform that gives a sense of identity, but generally the fashion express the uniqueness of a person and Hendrix highlighted this. Military fashion was a part of a mans’ world but in these days it is a well spread style among woman as well. Elegant, stylish, rebellious and robust are some words that describe this exquisite military trend. Many men and women love these military style jackets due to the fact that these products are still made from durable material and are very comfortable to wear in any season and in any places. Young and older, men and women, people from all continents like these clothes. Military Jackets are a fashion statement and can be worn throughout the year.
Audrey Hepburn’s 1950’s/ 1960’s classic style included several iconic trends-Ballet flats paired with capri or cigarette pants., winter coats (peacoats), oversized sunglasses, turtle necks and hats. Hepburn’s style was effortless and she made these most practical pieces look impossibly chic, which sparked fashion trends in the 1950’s era and they have never left us. “My look is attainable. Women can look like Audrey Hepburn by flipping out their hair, buying the large sunglasses, and the little sleeveless dresses.”….” that’s what this humble lady said long long time ago. Yet, a lot of women around the world have been inspired by her look for decades. And as for me, I adore her and her glamourous simple style. A perfectly tailored coat in a splash of decedent, rich colour can become any woman’s luxe wardrobe staple. These coats are elegant, vibrant and highlight sharp tailoring. Many of the wool coats available in recent seasons show similar characteristics to the classic trend of Audrey Hepburn in the 1950’s. They often have large buttons, soft shouldersand a funnel neck echoing the popular trend in Audrey’s choices of Givenchy coats; brave colors with sizable round buttons, either a boat or funnel neckline and at times three-quarter length sleeves. The style suited her well. Whatever your style and body shape, there is a colourful coat to suit your individual Winter needs. Nipped in at the waist in a classic feminine silhouette, prominent boxy, boardroom chic or streamlined, sexy sophistication there is one suitable for every lady. Audrey Hepburn has proven time and again that a well designed coat can make any outfit fashionable.Accompanied with another of her statement trends, the oversized sunglasses or a plain balck turtle neck, a sophisticated coat is revamped from a means of warmth to an inevitable eye catcher. Plain black capri’s or cigarette pants are available this season (even in leather) and have been seen over recent decades. They are a simple yet key piece of elegant clothing and if worn like Audrey Hepburn in the 1950’s with sophisticated ballet flats, they can add glamour to any occasion. The essence of the ballet flat has existed since at least the 16th century, in which men wore a similar shoe, then known as pompes.
Ballet flats took off again when Audrey Hepburn wore them with capri’s in Funny Face in 1957. More recently, variations of ballet flats have returned as a current fashion trend, often referred to as ballet pumpsand designed for outdoor wear, using a variety of fabrics and usually with a rubber sole. Ballet flats are popular with girls and women of all ages and are a great alternative to heels. Oversized sunglasses were another key piece to this classic fashion style that have made a huge comeback in recent years. • Shop the look August 2011 • Ballet flats • Capri’s • Sunglasses Classic black capri’s or cigarette pants
