Organising The 4 C’s of a positive culture: • Control • Co-operation • Communication • Competence
Planning & Implementing • Setting Action Plans (SMART objectives) • Prioritising health & safety activities • Hazard Identification • Risk Assessment • Risk Control (Hierarchy of control) • Setting performance standards
Measuring Performance • Active Monitoring: • Inspections, Tours, Attitude surveys etc. • Reactive Monitoring: • Injuries/Ill health • Property damage • Hazards/Near Misses
Reviewing Performance • Making judgements about the adequacy of performance • May need to be done in light of findings of measuring performance
Audit • Collecting information on the efficiency, effectiveness and reliability of the total health and safety management system and identifying corrective action. • All control systems tend to deteriorate over time or to become obsolete as a result of change.
