Hints For Campus Visit • COMPLETE BHS visit form ~5 days prior • MUST bring back a from from the admissions office • Schedule an appointment. • Meet with an admission officer. • Determine costs. • Ask questions about academic requirements/offerings. • Attend a class to get an idea of typical size, teaching style and academics.

  23. More Hints For Campus Visits • Tour the campus. (Be sure to check the dorms, dining halls, etc.) • Find out what student activities are available. • Inquire about campus life. • TALK TO STUDENTS!

Submit application to Guidance…we will mail If you need a letter of recommendation don’t wait until the last minute If you apply on-line… make sure you request a transcript form from Guidance and turn in all required paperwork Apply for Admissions and Observe Deadlines Keep in mind there may be individual school deadlines for special programs/scholarships

Brookside High SchoolCollege/University Procedures • APPLYING ONLINE MOST COMMON Print all counselor pages and recommendation forms AND give to Guidance Do not push “send” until after you check for spelling and grammar errors Request all additional documents to be mailed (minimum: 1 week for processing) • PAPER APPLICATION RARELY USED Complete the application in full…FOLLOW ALL STEPS • Use pen and print • Check for spelling and grammar errors • Include registration fee/made out to the institution (request waiver if applicable) • Attach all additional materials (See requirements for requesting documents) Deliver the entire package to Guidance for processing/Guidance will review application and MAIL

ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS All additional documents require a minimum week’s notice to process ~you aren’t the only one applying • TRANSCRIPTS: Fill out transcript release form and return to Guidance **Go to the BHS Guidance webpage **If you have not registered for a Parchment account, you need to do so before a transcript can be generated **Once you have an account, for each school that you apply to request a transcript • TEACHER RECOMMENDATION: Teachers need at least 1 week’s notice • COUNSELOR RECOMMENDATION: Complete background info form • COUNSELOR REPORT PAGE You need to print this off and bring it in. • ESSAY ~ make sure you have an English teacher edit before sending • Additional personal letter (if needed) • FEE Waivers are available for ANY student who is on Free and Reduced Lunch. You must complete a Free and Reduced Lunch form to qualify. These forms are in the Main Office.
