  2. The Challenges THAT ARE FACED WITH STADIUM PARKING • Traffic flow • Parking • Getting fans through the gates and into the stadium

  3. OBJECTIVE OF THE LESSON • To understand how parking policies affect profit • To learn the different types of staffing positions involved in the ingress and egress of the stadium • To understand the economic and logistical aspects of accessible offsite parking

  4. IMPORTANT TERMS • Ingress: the flow of fans to or into the stadium • Egress: The flow of fans out of or away from the stadium • Bottlenecks: a lessening of traffic throughout; often occurs in parking lots because of overloaded traffic situations Shuttle buses are a common solution to transport fans to and from the stadium

  5. THE PEOPLE INVOLVED • Event organizers • Parking Lot Personnel • Gate Personnel • Attendants • Security • Ticket Sellers • Ticket Takers

  6. The Role of Event Organizers • To arrange for the lots and buses in order to ensure that there is adequate parking for all people involved with the event • Adequate parking can be achieved in a number of ways… • A large parking lot at the venue • Satellite parking lots located around the main venue

  7. Parking lot PERSONNEL • Gate Personnel: needed to let cars in and out of the lot • Attendants: Necessary to direct traffic in an orderly manner for cars that want to come in and leave the lot • Security: Necessary to help resolve accidents or other incidents within the lot

  8. OTHER PERSONNEL • Ticket Sellers: Must be hired to ensure that fans can purchase tickets on the day of the event • Ticket Takers: Must be hired in order to collect tickets from fans that have purchased tickets ahead of time or at the event

  9. APPLY WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED….. • Research the parking setup of New Era Stadium versus another NFL team of your choice… • Explain how the parking is set up for the Bills and one other NFL team. Compare and contrast the parking setup. Make notes on the back of your parking sheet comparing the following… • Things to look for (not limited to): • Number of public lots • Price of parking • Number of satellite lots • Rules of lots (hours open before and after, tailgating, etc.)
