2008-2009 Since our last meeting in September 2008: Key deliverables have been achieved UN Member States and other stakeholders, especially within the UNECE region, showed increasingly intense focus and engagement in support of UN/CEFACT activities, including the Executive Committee Experts and elected officials from around the world worked especially hard in volunteering their skills and time to meet critically important deadlines and this teamwork deserves special recognition by the Plenary 4

The 13th UN/CEFACT Forum • The Saly Forum was hosted by the government of Senegal. The Minister of Budget, Mr Mamadou Abdoulaye Sow opened the Forum • 150 participants from Africa, Asia, Europe & North America • A National Forum on eBusiness was held in Dakar for Senegalese government & regional business officials • The meetings highlighted the importance of global standards in international trade, in general, & in Africa, in particular

The 14th UN/CEFACT Forum • The Forum was hosted by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development & the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade • The Under-Secretary for Trade, Mr Adolfo Urso, opened the Forum. • Over 200 participants from all regions attended the Forum. • A seminar on “The Role of Trade Facilitation: Promoting Market Integration with a Focus on Africa” was held in parallel to the Forum. Participants included the EU Development Commissioner, Italian Minister for Economic Development, WTO, & OECD.

The 15th UN/CEFACT Forum • The Forum was organized by Japan Association for Simplification of International Trade procedures (JASTPRO) and the UN/CEFACT Japan Committee (JEC), under the auspices of: • The Ministries of Finance (Customs Bureau) - Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry - Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transportation - The Hokkaido Government and the City of Sapporo. • The Director-General of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation, Mr Katsuyuki Ozaki and the Mayor of Sapporo, Mr Fumio Ueda opened the Forum. • Over 180 participants from all regions attended the Forum. • JASTPRO organized a seminar on “UN/CEFACT Standards & Recommendations” in parallel to the Forum which was attended by some 100 local attendees. A particular emphasis was placed on UN/CEFACT’s standards for agriculture which was very important for the economy of Hokkaido.

TBG’s Mandate The purpose of the TBG is to be responsible for the simplification of international trade procedures, business and governmental process analysis, and best practices, using the UN/CEFACT Modeling Methodology, where appropriate, to support the development of trade facilitation & e-Business standards. 32 9th November 2009 Geneva
TBG Summary Typical Forum attendance - 150 experts within 16 Working Groups Many participants are sponsored by companies, trade associations and national governments but in all cases are expected to contribute as individual subject matter experts Since the last UN/CEFACT Plenary, International Trade and Business Processes Groups met during the 13th (Saly), 14th (Rome), and 15th (Sapporo) UN/CEFACT Forums Also to progress work forward, TBG Work Groups conducted numerous face to face interim meetings and more than 100 internet conferences and conference calls 33 9th November 2009 Geneva

Purpose Supply chain and e-Procurement covers the Purchasing, Material Management and Payment areas Programme of Work The Cross Industry Invoice (CII) version 2.0 has been published Collaboration with TBG6 on developing the “Cross Industry Catalogue”, included in CCL09B Collaboration with TBG18 on developing the “Despatch Advice”, included in CCL09B Development of “Ordering” and “eMarket Research” messages, included in CCL09B Another suite of messages is planned to be included in the CCL10A which cover “Quotation” (in collaboration with TBG6), “Remittance Advice”, and “Scheduling”. Purpose Be responsible within the financial services area for the simplification of international trade procedures, business and governmental process analysis, and optimization of information exchange standards. Programme of Work Inclusion of Customer Credit Transfer semantics in CC Library marks the successful first presence of finance in UN/CEFACT. Global financial strategy to promote ISO 20022 as financial standard TBG5 continues to actively participate in cross-domain projects The key objective right now is on e-invoicing and integration to the financial payment chain. Purpose Functional area of insurance business including policy production, placement, claims, risk management. It covers also domestic and international environments, insurance and reinsurance, single company policies and co-insurance. Programme of Work Project work developed through Global Insurance Standards (ACORD), the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) and eBES Expert Group Seven Data elements for insurance related information for Contract, Party and Coverage as well as business areas of claims, life insurance, health insurance and automotive insurance are included in CCL09B. Purpose To support and promote international business activities related to the exchange of travel industry data. Programme of Work First set of schemas for requesting and receiving information on small-scale lodging published in D.07A. Purpose Responsible for defining the International Supply Chain model to present the various processes and parties involved within the international supply chain in a simplified way. Programme of Work Project P059 “International Supply Chain Reference Model” delivered version 2008A (May 2008) and 2009A (July 2009) of the Buy-Ship-Pay Model (aka “International Supply Chain Reference Model” (ISCM)) and the related Modelling Guidelines. The latest achievements since the 2008A version are Catalogue, Waste Transport, Customs, Despatch and Receive Goods, Scheduling and Remittance Advice.
