Who participates? • First Year Teachers • Second Year Teachers • Provisional Status Teachers in New Assignments • Mentors
BEST PROGRAM GOALS • To assure all teachers in the program receive the support and resources necessary to complete their professional certification. • To establish meaningful, productive relationships between consortium districts.
BEST PROGRAM UNIQUE FEATURES • Continuous, job-embedded support • Cohort groups with job-alike members • Individualized PGP’s within the context of school and district initiatives • Grant and district support blended to meet unique needs of each teacher • Technology used to facilitate communication and professional development
BEST PROGRAMRESOURCES • Money passed through to districts for stipends and substitute costs • Professional development opportunities provided. OSPI Mentor Academies, Leadership Roundtables (LRTs), learning opportunities in Success at the Core and Professional Certification. • Leadership Roundtables: November, March, April and May
BEST PROGRAMRESOURCES • Program facilitation including ongoing communication, support, and evaluation • Clock hours available for successful completion of program requirements
BEST PROGRAMREQUIREMENTS Collaboration/Planning: • Early career teachers and mentors will participate in collaboration and planning activities to support identified goal(s) as well as other areas of focus.
BEST PROGRAMREQUIREMENTS Professional Growth Plans • Early career teachers will develop a minimum of one professional goal using district and/or TPEP processes. • This plan will be monitored and evaluated to determine progress toward goal accomplishment.
BEST PROGRAMREQUIREMENTS Professional Learning Opportunities: • Early career teachers and mentors will participate in a minimum of one professional learning opportunity from a list of options. (Book study, district and ESD offerings, web-site learning, classroom observations, etc.)
