Capital Terminal Oil Spill Oil Spill Responses • August 31st – September 12th 2011 • Location: East Providence, RI • Agency Supported: U.S. Coast Guard - Sector Southeastern New England On August 31st 2011, a Cardi Construction Corp. worker digging near a pipeline at the Capital Terminal facility, ruptured a high pressure pipeline with an excavator. • AST provided personnel & equipment for: • Site Safety • Contractor Oversight • Implementing the ICS structure • Results: • Clean up of over 56,000-gal of No. 2 Low Sulfur Diesel
Lyndon Street Drum Site Chemical Response • November 14th – December 11th 2011 • Location: Detroit, MI • Agency Supported: EPA Region V • EPA discovered over 500 chemical drums, tanks, & compressed gas containers, many of which were not labeled, unsecure, and leaking in an old specialty chemical facility • Many of the chemicals were ignitable, corrosive, or toxic • AST provided: • 326 Chemical Hazard Identifications • 149 with First Defender RMX • Transportation & Disposal Documentation Review
United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) National Special Security Events (NSSE) • September 18 – 22, 2011 • Location: New York, NY • Agency Supported: U.S. Coast Guard • Sector New York On September 20th, President Obama and other World Leaders attended the UNGA in New York, NY. • AST provided personnel & equipment for: • Technical decontamination • Air quality testing • CBRN detection and identification • Interoperability with CG Maritime Security Response Team

McAllister Lightering Response • September 18th – 27th 2011 • Location: Westport, NY – Lake Champlain • Agency Supported: EPA Region II • Underwater Dive/Lightering operation on sunken WWII-era tug • Several hot taps conducted determining no fuel remained onboard • AST provided: • Site Safety / Oversight assistance • Contractor Monitoring • Technical salvage assistance
Sterling Equipment Barge #SEI 34 • Oak Creek Bluff Response Salvage Responses • September 1st – 12th 2011 • Location: Oak Creek, WI • Agency Supported: U.S. Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan • October 30th – December 10th 2011 • Location: Newport, RI – Under Pell Bridge • Agency Supported: U.S. Coast Guard – Sector Southeastern New England • A mudslide pushed constructions equipment and coal ash into Lake Michigan • AST provided: • Dive Ops Safety • Reviewed Salvage Plans • Site Safety/Oversight assistance • Contractor Monitoring • Technical assistance • The barge rolled over and partly capsized adjacent to the eastern span of the Pell Bridge with an estimated 3900-gal of diesel onboard. • AST provided: • Reviewed Salvage Plans/Site Safety Plans • Dive Ops Safety • Contractor oversight
