Lessons Learned • MFIs adopt the Code of Ethics to different degrees, but this is hard to measure • The Code of Ethics was created in a context with fewer participants. Many organizations today today did not take part in the consensus process when it was created. • Organizations’ personnel changes, and sometimes those that were more involved with the Code leave. • Everybody wants to use the Code to challenge the behavior of others… • Saying is different than doing • If there are not formal complaints from the MFIs, it is difficult to take action. • There is still a big issue with outsiders from the network. • In spite of everything, the code of ethics has contributed a lot to building the reputation of MFIs, ProDesarrollo, and the sector.
