  11. All students must be scheduled for 7 periods. Be sure to choose a class for each period of the day. If you would like for your child to be enrolled in a course that has not been recommended, please write a note indicating that and attach it to the registration form. What a Typical University of Maryland Freshman Looks Like (2009) University of Maryland expects all applicants, at a MINIMUM, to have completed the following course work: 4 years of English 4 yrs. of Math, Alg. 1 & 2, Geometry 3 yrs. of Science in 2 areas, min. 2 labs 3 yrs. of History or Social Science 2 yrs. of Foreign Language Successful applicants typically exceed the minimum and include several honors and/or AP courses. Enrolling in math courses all 4 years of high school is strongly recommendedand taking at least 3 years of a Foreign Language.
