HEFCE Deadlines: • July 2012: Submission of institutional Code of Practice on selection of staff • 31 July 2013: End of assessment period (research impacts, research environment and data) • 31 October 2013: Census date for staff eligible for selection • 31 December 2013: End of publication period for outputs and outputs underpinning impact case studies
Liverpool’s preparation timetable: crucial dates • End of October to end of November 2011 • Reading programmes approach completion • Code of Practice under development • REF briefings for REF coordinators and Heads of School
By end of December 2011: • Outputs: • Reading programmes complete. Faculties have clear picture of • quality of individuals’ current outputs and future output plans. • Situation is discussed with individuals in 2011 PDR round • Impact: • Faculties complete review of example case studies against draft criteria and identify cases that warrant further development.
January 2012 • REF Board analysis of output profiles – associated action/remedial • planning • Full REF criteria and methods document published • Guidance and timetable for draft submission issued • Internal consultation on Code of Practice • Identify initial configuration of returns – mapping individuals to Units of Assessment
February-March 2012 • Faculties start to refine impact case studies, with support from REF Board, and confirm arrangements for production of Impact statements • Faculties begin to produce draft environment statement using guidance checklists from REF Board • Draft Code of Practice to Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee on23rd February 2012, submitted for final approval to Senate 21st March. • 2012 reading programme for newly published outputs starts during March
April-July 2012 • Preparations and further guidance for draft submission. • Code of Practice tested during run-up to draft submission. • Deadline for full draft submission including outputs, impact and environment 31st July 2012.
