What is the SAT and ACT? • The SAT tests student’s basic knowledge in reading, writing, and math. • The ACT test is a national college admissions exam that consists of English, mathematics, reading and science subject areas. • BOTH are universally accepted for college admission. Why take the SAT or ACT? • Most four year colleges require an admissions test like the SAT. • Used with GPAs and high school transcripts, SAT scores allow colleges tofairly compareapplicants. • The ACT helps in making yourself visible to colleges and scholarship agencies • The ACT test does not penalize wrong answers and Writing section is optional. Tour colleges—in person and virtually through www.campustours.com. Write your college essay(s). Verify your colleges need them. Create a resume that includes all of your jobs and extracurricular activities. Ask your teachers, coaches or employers for letters of recommendation. Enjoy your summer internship, youth employment, or volunteer work. Save Money- Your senior year will be your most expensive year. (senior dues , SAT’s, college application fees, prom, senior trip, yearbook, senior ring, college application fees, postage, etc.). Over the Summer!
