  1. Who are we? • Established in 1971 as HVCGAS • Provide guidance, information, support and development for Good Neighbours network of local voluntary groups • Hosted by Dioceses of Portsmouth Winchester, Guildford • Supported by Hampshire County Council Adult Services and NHS Hampshire

  2. 115 voluntary groups 3,264 volunteers 138,065 tasks This represents about £5.3million, or about 200 full time posts Last year

  4. Providing Services (1) • Transport • To hospital appointments • To GP surgeries • To dentists, chiropodists, opticians • To visit partners / social outings • Shopping • Collecting prescriptions • Lunch clubs

  5. Dog walking Minor repairs/DIY Toddler groups Visiting Sitting for carers Friendship clubs Befriending Providing Services (2)

  6. To keep groups going; develop new groups and services • To understand GP commissioning • To engage GP Commissioners effectively • To be part of the solution in response to increased pressure on NHS transport services What are our aims?

  7. We are already • Finding new ways of working to attract more volunteers and a wider range of clients • Supported by NHS Hampshire • Working with and alongside other support organisations and providers

  8. ‘A Healthier Perspective’ There are four strands in the framework: • Understanding market opportunities • Supporting effective partnerships • Getting the process right • Using evidence to best effect

  9. Positioning • As a support organisation we provide a vital link to GN providers. • We can and already are meeting health and wellbeing priorities in partnership with our groups. • We can build the capacity of local groups to do more.

  10. Partnerships • We want commissioners to recognise the professionalism of our service. GNSS is ideally placed to engage in strategic partnerships to help deliver services. • What are commissioners trying to buy?

  11. Evidence We have already changed the way we show the value of GNSS. • Demonstrating impact of GN services and how lives are improved (outcomes). • Evaluating our service using action research with human stories. • Working with 9 different groups each year we provide evidence that GN providers are trustworthy, show innovation and how GNSS helps groups adapt to changing needs.
