The department actively conducts research work on medical and biological problems of physical culture and sports, scientific and methodological support for training athletes (Kudashova LR, Bugybaeva S.Zh., Ya.I. Nevsky, Lesbekova R.B.). The main scientific direction of the department: the adaptation of the body to muscle activity. The faculty of the department annually participates in international scientific conferences, publishes the results of research in the journal “Theory and Methods of physical culture”. Students under the guidance of teachers of the department participate in scientific-practical conferences of the Academy and international scientific student conferences.

The objectives of the disciplines of the department - to give the future bachelor in the specialty "Physical culture and sport" the volume of knowledge and skills that allows the rational use of biological capabilities of a person in achieving high sports results, while preserving and strengthening health, to prevent violations caused by irrational training or extreme situations, to help the coach and teacher in the planning and correction of training, competently conduct health training, to ensure a rational selection, restoration and sports longevity, provide first aid.

Department of anatomy and physiology take active part on various actions, scientific conferences, symposiums, organized as the management of academy, and beyond limits. Professors and teachers of department developed and published many various manuals, scientific works, methodical instructions and monographs in the state and Russian languages which gained the recognition. Famous Heads of the Department of Anatomy Georgy Vasilyevich Skipin - the first head of the Department of Physiology and Biochemistry KazIFK. In 1926 he graduated from the Leningrad Military Medical Academy. In 1944 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences. From 1945 to 1949 he was the head of the department of physiology and biochemistry Kazakh Institute of physical culture. During his work at the Institute he published more than 20 scientific works in the field of human and animal physiology, including in physiological journals of the USSR. As the head of the department he laid the foundation for teaching methods for students of the Institute of Physical Culture, course of physiology and biochemistry.
Petr Osipovich Isaev - Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Anatomy from 1945 to 1955, Deputy Rector for Scientific and Educational Work. • Over the years, he created all the conditions for the department, equipped anatomical rooms, made a great contribution to the organization and creation of the educational and scientific base of the Institute. Under his leadership, four teachers defended their PhD theses. The organizer of the first scientific conferences of the teacher Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture. He is the author of four books in the field of central nervous system studies and a course of normal anatomy of the person.
Alexander Davidovich Bernstein - Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of Kazakhstan, was one of the organizers of the Institute of Physical Culture in the difficult postwar years, was head of the Department of Physiology and Chemistry in 1951-1960. • During the work of Bernstein A.D. the department was in the Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture leading in the organization of educational process and research work. He created a scientific laboratory, in which the experimental research work was carried out by employees and students of the Institute. For the first time in laboratory researches working out of problems of the sport connected with a medico-biological substantiation was carried out. He made regular reports in Moscow, Leningrad and Kiev. His name, as a leading scientist, was widely known in the scientific world. Many of his students became doctoral candidates and candidates of science. • A.D. Bernstein made a great contribution to the development of the Highland and Sport research laboratory. He prepared a lot of scientific works and manuals: "Against universalism and simplification in medicine" (1948), "Physiological foundations of sportsmen's nutrition" (1959), "Origins of strength, vigor, health" (1962), "Man in the middle mountains" (1967).
Glozman Osip Sergeevich - Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, an outstanding scientist, Honored Scientist of the Kazakh SSR, founder of the first Kazakh school of pathophysiology, headed the department in 1970-1971. In 1935, O.S. Glozman was awarded a PhD degree without defending a thesis. In 1937, Osip Sergeevich defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Materials for the study of the blood-brain barrier." In 1946, Professor O.S. Glozman moved to Alma-Ata, where he headed the Department of Pathological Physiology of the Medical Institute. In the post-war years, Osip Sergeevich's scientific studies on the pathophysiology of extreme conditions, such as shock, acute blood loss, and toxicoses of various origins, received particular relevance. A distinctive feature of the scientific studies of Professor O.S. Glozman was their practical focus, close relationship with the clinic. Professor O.S. Glozman and his students in the experiment on animals for the first time developed a technique, technique and pathophysiological basis of the operation of partial and complete replacement of blood. Since 1949, the method of blood replacement for the first time in the USSR began to be applied in clinical institutions in Almaty. By 1962, more than 325 blood replacement operations were performed in patients with carbon monoxide, bleached, sublimate, various drugs, as well as uremia and in newborns with hemolytic disease in clinics and hospitals in Almaty. Askar Bilyalovich Uteshev - Graduate of the Kazakh State Medical Institute, Faculty of Medicine (1957). Born in 1944. Headed the Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture from 1982 to 1986. By order of the Ministry of Health he was sent by a doctor to the Aral Sea Anti-Plague Station. From 1958 to 1961 he studied in full-time post-graduate study at the State Medical Institute of Almaty. He defended his PhD thesis and from 1963 worked as the head of the biochemical department at the same institute. Since 1965, he has been a senior researcher at the Department of Radiobiology of the Institute of Experimental Biology of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan. • After becoming the rector of the Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture, A.B. Uteshev set the task to raise the scientific level of the Institute's teaching staff and improve the educational process. He is the author of the book "The role of redox enzymes in radiation damage" (1981) and one of the authors of the book "Catecholamines and radiation" (1988).
Igor Potapov - Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor, author and co-author of 130 published scientific works, including two monographs. Potapov I.A.'s research is devoted to the study of physiology and pathology of the lymphatic system, optimization of skeletal muscle activity, classical massage and other important issues of valeology.
Sagymbala Zhumadilovna Bugybayeva - Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor. S.Zh. Bugybayeva was born in 1946. In 1969 she graduated with honors from the natural-geographical faculty of the Kazakh Pedagogical Institute. From 1973 to 1990 she worked at the Department of Physiology and Biochemistry of the Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture as a senior laboratory assistant. Since 1979 she has passed on competition on a post of the teacher, then the senior teacher. Combining work with scientific activity, in 1980 successfully defended the candidate's thesis in the Moscow state university (Moscow) under the direction of Candidate of Biological Sciences, associate professor K.B.Akhmedova on a theme: "Morphological changes in a liver at physical loading of different duration and dynamics of active and passive restoration" on a speciality 03.00.13. "Physiology of the person and animals", having received a scientific degree of the candidate of biological sciences. • From 1990 to 1998, she worked as an associate professor, then head of the Department of Anatomy and Physiology at Taldykorgan University named after U. Dzhansugurova. • Since September 1998, he has been working as an associate professor. Since February 1999, she has been a professor. From 1999 to 2008, she headed the Department of Anatomy and Physiology of KazAST. In February 1998, she defended her doctoral thesis in the specialty 03.00.13. "Physiology of humans and animals". In November 1999, she was awarded the title of professor in Biology.
From October 2000 to July 2004, she held the following positions: Assistant Vice-Rector; Vice-rector for educational work (April 2001); Director of the Department of Education - Chancellor (August 8, 2002); First Vice-President of the Academy. • During the work of Bugybaeva S.Zh. in the position of vice-rector for educational and methodological work in 2002 the Academy successfully passed certification, and in 2003 the first Accreditation of the university. From September 1, 1999 to July 30, 2000 - Senior Lecturer, from September 1, 2000 to July 20, 2008 - Associate Professor of the Department of Anatomy and Physiology. • In 2008-2011, she was Head of the Department, since 2011 - Dean of the Faculty of Olympic Sport, since 2013 - in combination with the Dean of FOS - Head of the Department of Anatomy and Physiology. Zhanibek Sagatovich Kisebayev after graduating with honors from the Faculty of Biology, Department of Biophysics and Human and Animal Physiology, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, entered the postgraduate school of the Institute of Human and Animal Physiology, Laboratory of Environmental Physiology (2006). In 2010 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of biological sciences on the topic: "Conditionally-reflex memory and the state of brain cell membranes in rats under the action of extreme factors and their correction with the biologically active substance Cedar Oil" in the specialty 03.00.13 - physiology , under the scientific supervision: doctor of biological sciences, professor I. Kolbaya and, dbs, prof. U.N. Kapysheva .. • In the period 2005 to 2006, Kisebayev Zh.S. worked as a laboratory assistant at the Institute of Human and Animal Physiology. Doctors, candidates, professors and associate professors of the department Lyudmila Rasimovna Kudashova - Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor. Kudashova L.R. has been working at the department since 1966. Working at the department, she carried out scientific work, combining it with teaching. In 1973 she defended her thesis on the topic: "Capillary blood supply to the muscles of the extremities and oxygen tension in tissues during hypoxia and hypothermia" in the specialty 03.00.13 "Human and Animal Physiology", under the scientific guidance of the Head of the Department of Physiology of the Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences O.S. Glozman. From 1988 to 1995, Associate Professor Kudashova LR carried out scientific and methodological assistance as part of the Integrated Skating Sports Scientific Group, led the contractual themes for the national teams of the republic in football, volleyball, basketball, was the head of medical and biological support, carrying out the correction of functional skills of highly qualified athletes. YaroslavIvanovichNevsky - Ph.D., Professor. NevskyYa.I. born in 1939. In 1964 he graduated from the Alma-Ata Medical Institute with a degree in General Medicine. • In 1964, as part of the national team CS "Burevestnik" made the ascent to Lenin Peak (7134 m). After graduation, he worked for two years as a surgeon in the district hospital. • In 1966 he entered the Institute of Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR as a junior research assistant in the laboratory of circulatory physiology. For a number of years (1966-1979) he studied the coronary circulation in myocardial hypoxia. • In 1972, by the decision of the Council of Institutes of Physiology, Regional Pathology, Clinical and Experimental Surgery, the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR was awarded the degree of candidate of medical sciences. • From 1974 to 1982, he worked at the Kazakh branch of the Institute of Nutrition of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR as a senior researcher at the Athlete Nutrition Laboratory. This period of scientific activity of NevskyYa.I. characterized by the fact that he participated in the development of nutrition for athletes and military personnel in adapting to intense muscular activity in high-altitude conditions.
In 1981, by order of the Ministry of Health of the Kazakh SSR, NevskyYa.I. was included in the scientific team, consisting of employees of the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP) and employees of the Kazakh branch of the Institute of Nutrition, Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR for sports selection in the national team of climbers who claim the site in the first ascent of Mount Everest. It was another stage at the base of the Medeo high-mountain skating rink. • In charge of NevskyYa.I. this period included the determination of the overall physical performance, oxygen consumption and the parameters of acid-base balance of blood. The results of all the studies were sent to IBMP. • IBMP selected 18 climbers to climb Mount Everest: four teams of four people and two spare ones.
