Writing If increased writing correlates with higher achievement on standardized tests, why aren't students writing more in their classes? Why are young adults entering college and the workforce unprepared for the writing they are expected to do? And . . .what can teachers do to address these problems?
Effective instruction in writing with writing in all content areas/cross-curricular writing • Improve teachers’ skills to teacher and assess student writing in all content areas • Improve student engagement and performance through writing • Improve student writing skills and test scores • Improve the skill and comfort level of content area teachers to incorporate writing into all subjects • Implement research-based writing strategies • Incorporate writing technologies across the core subject areas to increase learning and provide immediate feedback to students • Develop and implement a district-wide approach to assigning and assessing writing • Examine the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards and develop strategies for Writing Instruction
