He writes: • Paula asks, “Can you do that? Are those two problems the same? • What do you think about Yuri’s idea? • Are the two problems equivalent?
Draw a Model for Start by drawing ¼. Now add more ¼’s so you can show 2 2/3. Now show 2 2/3. Now add up your fractions.
Try multiplying Without the Model • Change to improper fractions. • Multiply the numerators together. • Multiply the denominators together. • How does your answer compare to the answer with the model?
