  1. NUCLEAR ENERGY…

  2. What is Nuclear Energy? • Nuclear energy is the energy that is released by splitting the nucleus of an atom (nuclear fission) or joining two atoms to become an individual atom (nuclear fusion). Indeed, nuclear core comes. • It is a Non-Renewable Resource.

  3. USES • Used in Electricity Generation. • Explosives such as Nuclear weapons(Atom Bomb, Missiles)

  4. Advantages/Disadvantages…

  5. Advantages/Disadvantages (cont…)

  6. Pakistan, The World's Fifth Largest Nuclear Power NUCLEARPOWER

  7. The development of the Pakistani nuclear weapons program. • 1956 Atomic Energy Research Council. • 1965 first nuclear reactor built with US aid. • 1968 India and Pakistan refuse to sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty. • 1972 decision to start a nuclear weapons program.

  8. The development of the Pakistani nuclear weapons program(cont...) • 1974 First Indian „peaceful“ nuclear explosion leads to intensifying of the Pakistani nuclear weapons program

  9. The development of the Pakistani nuclear weapons program • 1974 nuclear scientist Abdul Qadir Khan offers his services to the Pakistani government. • Khan had studied in Europe, in West Berlin, Holland and Belgium.

  12. Nuclear Power in Pakistan • Pakistan has a small nuclear power program, with 725 MW capacity, but is moving to increase this substantially. • Pakistan's nuclear weapons capabilities of has arisen independently of the civil nuclear fuel cycle, using indigenous uranium. • Because Pakistan is outside the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, due to its weapons program, it is largely excluded from trade in nuclear plant or materials, which hinders its development of civil nuclear energy. However, China is positive about nuclear cooperation with Pakistan.
