  2. What? • Energizers are classroom based physical activities that may integrate physical activity with academic concepts. • These are short (less than 10 minutes) activities that classroom teachers can use to provide activity to children.

  3. When? • Before and after school day • Start of each school day • Recess breaks • Before/after lunch • Introducing or during classroom lessons • Between lessons • Special events (within school day) • During special classes

  6. High five right High five left Low five right Low five left High ten Low ten Backwards ten high Backwards ten low Sole of shoes right Sole of shoes left Elbow right Elbow left Both elbows HIGH-FIVE WARM-UP: MEMORY LANE Join with a partner and repeat all of the above as fast as you can!

  7. LITTER BOX • Stand next to one partner • Each pair will drop one ball on the floor • Pick up the ball and place it on the desk with… • Elbow and elbow • Foot and foot • Knee and knee • Forearm and elbow • Foot and elbow • Knee and elbow • Forehead and back of hand • Foot and finger

  8. AS IF… • Act out each sentence for 10 seconds • Participate enthusiastically! Jog in place AS IF a big scary bear is chasing you Walk AS IF you’re walking through chocolate pudding Jump in place AS IF you are popcorn popping Reach up AS IF grabbing balloons out of the air March in place AS IF you are in a marching band Paint AS IF the paint brush is attached to your head Swim AS IF you are in a giant pool of Jell-O Move your feet AS IF you are ice skating Shake your body AS IF you are a wet dog Create your own sentence!

  9. Your Mission… • With a partner create your own energizer • Include the following: • Name of Activity • Grade Level • Formation • Equipment Needed • Description of Activity • Variations • Content subject for integration • Teach your energizer to the class for 3-5 minutes
