Energizers/Physical Activity Breaks Research shows that physical activity can positively affect: • Blood flow and oxygen to the brain, thereby improving mental clarity • The part of the brain responsible for learning and memory • Connections between nerves in the brain thereby improving attention and information-processing skills

  3. Examples of how PA breaks can be integrated at schools include: • #1 – Get the principal “On Board” • As part of an elementary school's morning or weekly assembly that involves teachers, students, and even parents. • As a regularly scheduled activity every day at lunch. • Special days set aside for activity breaks (Valentine’s Day – Cupid’s Arrow, St. Patrick’s Day – Leprechaun’s Gold, etc.) • After each segment of a performance test. • Transitions between academic subjects. • During faculty meetings to instruct the classroom teachers and get them “On Board” • (California Action for Healthy Kids)
