International Workshop on Energy Statistics Gas Statistics in Myanmar 24~26 September,2012 Beijing,China Presented by Tin Zaw Myint Deputy Director Energy Planning Department Ministry of Energy
Energy Policy The country’s energy policy is - * to maintain the status of energy independence; * to promote wider use of new and renewable sources of energy; * to promote energy efficiency and conservation; * to promote use of alternative fuels in household; * to implement Effective Utilization of Discovered Crude Oil and Natural Gas Resources in the Interest of the Entire Nation including the Regions where the Discovery was made ; and * to promote more Private Participation. Energy is an essential driving force for achieving social and economic development and an improve quality of life.Energy resources in Myanmar are biomass, hydropower, coal, crude oil, natural gas, geothermal, wind, solar, bio-fuel and biogas etc.
