Introduction • This first revision of the Highland Learning and Teaching Policy reflects changes in educational thinking since the launch of our original version in 2003 • It now includes assessment • The revised Policy is complemented by a (refreshed) Learning, Teaching and Assessment Toolkit and also the Highland CPD Reflection Framework Mark Jones Tain Royal Academy
Introduction • Our LTA Policy endorses wholeheartedly for pupils and staff the educational purposes described in Curriculum for Excellence • All four capacities (not just successful learners) apply to staff just as much as pupils and should inform the self-evaluation and CPD of all Mark Jones Tain Royal Academy
Introduction Getting it right for all learners • The crucial idea in this section is that you can have all the teaching strategies in creation in the classroom, but without mutual respect and good relationships amongst learners, high quality learning cannot take place. Mark Jones Tain Royal Academy

Getting familiar with theHighland LTA Policy • Each corner of the room has been designated a colour • Pink • Yellow • Pastel Blue • Pastel Green Mark Jones Tain Royal Academy
Getting familiar with theHighland LTA Policy • Each corner has one of the Areas to be discussed from the LTA policy. • In your corner read the sheet you have been given, which is on keeping with the colour of your corner. • Discuss what you have read with the people at your table and each write down your answers / opinions to the Key Questions that have been asked. Could you please go to the table with the same letter as you have on your sheet and meet 3 new people to work with. • Could you quickly summarise the key points from the answers to you gave on your sheet in the corner of the placemat you have in front of you.
