  3. Investment facilities: Easy business registration process Good ranking in Doing Business Indicators for Starting a Business Minimum capital requirement to run a business is $5,000 No paid-in capital requirement No restriction on foreign ownership No sector-wise restriction on investment

Investment facilities: (cont) All pre- and post-investment support facilities are provided by AISA: Providing information on existing market opportunities Facilitating visa, work permit, customs clearance, trademark registration, and other issues for investors Organizing matchmaking events for possible joint-ventures, supplier-distributor contracts, and business expansion Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process

  5. Investment facilities: (cont) Access to land in Industrial Parks (IPs) Providing infrastructure and IP-related services Tax Free Zones to be launched in the near future Temporary tariff protection for key industries “Investment Support Fund” to be launched by AISA

Private Investment since 2003: • Since the establishment of AISA in 2003, almost 28,000 investment licenses have been issued, of which nearly 4,000 are foreign investments. • Total private investment estimated at $8.9 billion • FDI share is one-third of total investment. • Mining, telecommunications, banking, trade and transport – major sectors to have received private investment

Investment Outlook: • Investment outlook for 2012 and onwards remains highly favourable • Afghan-US Strategic Partnership Agreement removed uncertainties for the future, ensuring political stability in the long-run • Strong support in Partnership Agreements (India, UK, EU, France, Germany and Italy) for private sector development and promotion of private investment • Large mining projects in the medium-term will create huge investment opportunities in related activities : both in upstream support activities and in downstream processing activities
