Registration forIDN.IDN(Taiwan) Automatic Resolution Automatic registration Automatic Resolution • The IDN ccTLD .台灣 was launched on October 14, 2010. • Registration fee for a “traditional-Chinese-characters .台灣” domain names is NT $800 (US28) per year. • Upon registration, TWNIC automatically provides the resolution for the corresponding domain name in the ‘simplified Chinese character’ form (e.g. 正体中文.台湾) free of charge. • In addition, the same domain name in the traditional Chinese characters under the .tw domain space (e.g. 正體中文.tw ) will be automatically registered under the name of the applicant. Promotion of IDN ccTLD .台灣 • The objective of the promotion is to create widespread public awareness of the new applications and value of the IDN ccTLD .台灣 • The promotion activities include press announcements, public conferences, seminars in the schools and the training courses for the business community. • The content of the promotion is on using IDN.台灣for brand identity or protection and as a way for direct communication with the local community. Promotion Activities • The symposium, titled “Creative IDN-based applications and services” was held on March 30 with an attendance of 220. • The Taipei carnival for the “Innovative and Unique SMBs” was held on May 7-8 with an attendance of 3,000. • The seminar, titled “Creating the new e-life Dream”, invited the founders of the community websites to share their experience for students, was held on May 12 in Asia University.   12. 2011 10th NetKing Web Design Campaign • Annual Web design campaign of for .tw/.台灣。 • This year, the theme is 「100 years of Nation Building. Happiness of Taiwan」 • Participant needs to use the .tw/.台灣 domain name to build up their website (either English domain or IDN) 。 • The award ceremony will be held in December 2011. The research project for 2nd level domain name dispute resolution An objective for this research is to strengthen the management of 2nd level domain name registration services collect, analyze and generalize the dispute cases of WIPO and ccTLDs in Asia. Build up dispute principles in .tw/.台灣 for 2nd level domain names. As the Trademark Law in Taiwan was amended in the end of this May (2011), the dispute resolution will be impacted by the provisions of trademark violations in the future. Domain name dispute symposium and seminar • The panelist, Professor Mark Patridge, of WIPO was invited to have a keynote speech. • The panelist of dispute provider and specialist in Taiwan were invited to join the symposium. • Lawyers, legal counsels and domainers joined theseminar.
