Purpose The Handbook is designed to help healthcare professionals implement IHE on a new clinical system purchase or upgrade an existing system. It guides on how to select, specify, purchase and deploy the integration capabilities of the IHE capable systems. The Handbook provides examples, use cases, considerations, and effective measure tools to ensure that the exchange of information is effective, using standards-based transactions by the IHE initiative to meet critical clinical needs. This is the first edition of the IHE PCD User’s Handbook. Future editions will be expanded and enhanced.
