1. Snails as hard as a Nail… What are the effects when adding steroids to a Snails Diet? Sierra Mothershed, Alexis Diaz, Selena Cortez Computech Middle School Introduction Steroids are suppose to make human bodies more stronger, build muscle, enhance performance, and improve appearance. So we were thinking if all these are suppose to happen to humans what will the effect be with a snail? HypothesisOur hypothesis is that the steroids will have an effect on the snails. We our hoping to see a speed change. We are not that sure if the snail will get bigger in height. We think that this change is going to happen because when humans take steroids there speed changes and they get more muscles. That’s what helped me come up with this hypothesis. Conclusion So our hypothesis was proven correct but not fully completed. Okay so we were right the outcome was that the snails speed will change. As you can see in the graphs above you can see the difference. The part that was weird was that not all the snails had moved. When we observed their regular behavior 5/10 snails were moving, when we observed them with steroids only 3/10 snails had moved. So our guess is that it is not affected on every snail. That’s the reason we did 10 snails. If we were to do only two snails our data wouldn’t be accurate. Now I’m not saying this data I have right now is 100% accurate either. Some things that probably could have been done better could have made this data more accurate. Like, maybe if we started them at the same starting point it would be more accurate. The only way to find out if this is true is for us to start them at the same place next time. Now with this experiment I just did I would probably want to see if next time if snails are affected by energy drink. I would want to try this one because it’s also dealing with your body. We’ll we see if this can be proven or not next time!!!! Method So our method is we will be observing 10 snails and their regular behavior and speed. We will first time the 10 snails for four minutes while collecting the data. We will then observe the same 10 snails but this time with the protein powder to see if there was an before and after effect. We will use the same method and time them for four minutes. Let’s see what happens!!!!
