  2. American Toad-Amphibian • Amphibia means “double life”. • Most amphibians have scale-like skin, and are gill breathers. • The scientific name of an American Toad is Bufo americanus. • The American Toad belongs to phylum Chordata. • The American Toad only grows to be two-four inches in length.

  3. Mallard- Birds • Birds are vertebrates, that have feathers. • There are 30 orders of birds, Mallards are in Order Anseriformes. • Scientific name of a Mallard is Anas platyrhynchos . • Mallards belong to phylum Chordata. • Mallards can be considered the most tolerable of humans of birds.

Copperhead- Reptile • Class Reptile includes snakes, turtles, lizards and more. • Today, there are about 7900 known species of reptiles. • Scientific name of a Copperhead snake is Agkistrodon contortrix. • Copperheads belongs to Phylum Chordata. • Copperheads can be found from Connecticut to Texas.

Crayfish- Invertebrates • Invertebrates are animals that lack a backbone. • Invertebrates make up at least 95% of the world’s animal species. • The scientific name of a Crayfish is Cambarus englishi. • Crayfish belong to class Arthropoda. • Out of the 500 species of Crayfish, over 350 live in the U.S.

Manatee- Mammals • All mammals have three common characteristics: • *Three bones in the middle ear, hair, and ability to produce milk • Mammals weight ranges from 3 grams to 160 tons. • The scientific name of a Manatee is Trichechus manatus. • Manatees belong to Phylum Chordata. • Manatees can grow to weigh 2,500 pounds.
