Challenges in EntrepreneurshipDr Chandrasekar Dharuman While @ Young • Born in a Joint big family, first Son • A village near Golden temple • A movie addict, see movie every day • Champion in Gilly, Goli and Pamparam • Studied in corporation school till 11th Std • Major change in studies due to a challenge • Never looked back, but missed Engineering, ignorance • Did Masters at Anna and Ph.D at IISc Bangalore. • A short story but lived 25 years

Challenges in EntrepreneurshipDr Chandrasekar Dharuman My Family • Wife and two Sons • Mother and Brother @ home • Children still @ school • Wife a home maker with M.Phil • In Chemistry • King @ home, sole decision maker • Took charge of family at 25 with no money-Job • Got a sister married and supported the other • Only educated and earning guy for the family • Happy to have a non-interfering family-loaded all bags on the shoulder. • Love drives the entire family

Challenges in EntrepreneurshipDr Chandrasekar Dharuman Proud moments • First graduate, post graduate PhD • Discovery of new flows published • In American Institute Journal • Theoretical study verified by • Experiments by professors in USA • Bagged CEO award for creating products • Sold products to NEC a demanding Japanese corp • Best Business Unit Head (Telecom & Networking) • Best Center Head for Wipro-appriciation by Premji • Chennai Center became the second largest in size. • Father would have been proud about his Son

Challenges in EntrepreneurshipDr Chandrasekar Dharuman Turn’s Twists • Sudden Demise of Father • Change from Academics to IT • Quit well paid job @ Bombay-no job • New Product – no appreciation • Golden period ends in crisis-DSQ • Chance to be a entrepreneur-missed • Team need kept first-compromise • Joined HCL/Wipro with people from DSQ • Threat from DSQ • Received guidance and blessing every moment

Challenges in EntrepreneurshipDr Chandrasekar Dharuman My Strengths & Belief’s • Inspired by lesson “Civilization” • Dedication to work-hunger to win • Perseverance –no give up • Always looking for change/challenge • Live in the present moment • Listen to senior’s-a supervisors pet. • Believe in “freedom” is key for creativity & success • No Hero’s at work, training & mentoring is key • Openness and belief in team work • Team win is a leaders win

Challenges in EntrepreneurshipDr Chandrasekar Dharuman Had chance to create every time • Created Computer Center for UAS • Created Network monitoring tool • A team of 20 people for BNA • Created Telecom-Networking BU • Build 500 people, with domain knowledge • Built products LanSneaker, NetSneaker & PMS • Using only students, with almost no cost • Created Global R&D division for Wipro at Chennai • Telecom, Embedded and Media team’s grew to 3000 • Managed Wipro Chennai to grow to 13000 people • Wipro’s best rated center for consecutive years by employees • Fortunate to incubate always and be successful

Challenges in EntrepreneurshipDr Chandrasekar Dharuman My Decision • Realized no identity for you in a corporate • Missed opportunities in 1999 & 2005 • Dilemma due to recession • Quit Wipro, as no choice nearing 50 yrs • First planned for family needs–secured for 18 months • Realized can not do alone, friends support a must • Created a business plan, was modified 10 times • Met 10 close friends, categorized A, B and C • Fortunate to have a friends company merge • New plan created to support the asserts came by Guided by my Guru, SriSeshaa was born
