  1. Santa Ynez Robotics Club Shooting for heights and success!

What’s our mission? • Promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and math in an afterschool • program. • To get team members to excel at construction, mechanics, programming, • thinking, and teamwork • That thinking is best learned through experience. • To basically start our first year like starting a company.

  3. What’s our first competition? • Our first competition is formatted to require a high level of thinking in a • short period of time. • The students will receive a chassis on January 4, 2014 and we have 8 weeks • to build a robot of strict requirements • Our students will compete in Madera, California on March 7-9 2014 with teams from the central valley On September 23, 2013 Our team went to Dos Pueblos school to get a taste as to what our competition will look like!

How will this help our school? • Support new “Next Generations” science curriculum • Includes Engineering and Technology as well as science and math • Next year we will need to modify the science building to adapt to new school Standards • This curriculum could impact many departments at Santa Ynez High School

  5. What’s in it for the students? • Challenge • Fun • Learning • College acceptance • Future Career • Practical Thinking • Mentor/student learning The winning float in the Pirates 2013 Homecoming Parade

Student Member List • About 20 students with diverse backgrounds • Young men and women from all grades at our high school • Many students enrolled in Collage Prep and Advanced Placement physics • Brilliant President, who is great at programming • Officers committed and high quality of leadership skills

  7. What do we truly need? • Adult mentors - Programmers, woodworkers, engineers, those who work with • Their hands, and mechanics • Hand tools - screwdrivers, Allen keys, wrenches, socket sets, hacksaw, pliers, • Calipers, tape measures (Same Company), clamps, files, wire strippers, • Multi-meters, and soldering iron • Power tools - drills, jig saw, dremel, machine tools, mill, band saw, and • drill press • Funding - We need to raise $15,000 to compete in our first competition, the bulk • Of which need to be paid by December 4, 2013. We have already applied to N.A.S.A. • and F.R.C. for rookie grants. We currently have $1,500 in our bank account
