Progress • Protocol has been finalized • Both Institutional and National ethical clearance obtained • Received USD 789,982 for each site • Staff are already in place • Netbooks, barcode readers and fingerprint scanners, 45 for each in Ifakara and 40 in Rufiji have been procured • National stakeholders meeting held on 27th July • Was officiated by CMO and involved both national and district level stakeholders • TOT for targeting accuracy, access and adherence was conducted between 3rd and 7th August, more than 15 participants were involved from each site
Progress • TOT for qualitative was held between 28th Sept and 2nd Oct, involved 4 participants from both sites • Safety and efficacy between 19th and 21st Oct., involved 5 participants • Community level advocacy for Rufiji was conducted between 31st August to 3rd Sept, more than 200 harmlet, village and ward leaders were involved • Field interviewer training for Access and costing modules have been conducted in both sites
Progress • Involved 45 participants in Rufiji and 52 in ifakara, lasted for 6 days • Using the available netbooks, the participants were trained on how to collect data using electronic method • Sampled households for each site have been generated • Questionnaires for targeting accuracy, Access and costing, adherence and community parasite prevalence have been prepared • Data collection for Access and costing would start this week using paper forms as the tablet PCs have not yet been purchased
Progress • Fever prevalence questionnaires have been integrated into DSS forms and their administration has started • So far 8000 households from Ifakara and 3000 from Rufiji have been visited
challenges • Procurements of tablet PCs have not been procured
