Inspections and Reviews Since 2009 CSSIW has published 75 reports specifically on safeguarding and protecting adults and children. These are available on CSSIW website http://wales.gov.uk/cssiwsubsite/newcssiw/publications under the heading: “Reports on our findings of social services in Wales”

Adult Protection Monitoring Report 2010-12 - Key Findings: • Differences in the rate of referrals across Wales • 2:1 women to men are victims • Most common victim are older women • Most victims lived in their own home in the community • Staff were the people most likely to be alleged to be responsible for abuse - 44% of referrals

Challenges for CSSIW& partners • Undertake work to understand the factors behind the large percentage of referrals from care homes • How successful are strategies to support good quality social care services, e.g. - the Bill and the White Paper? • How can we work better with the Care Council for Wales re workforce issues?
Most importantly… How do we help older people who are vulnerable find a voice that is heard?
