  4. Suffix -ly • Suffix ly is added to the end of a base word to change a word’s function in a sentence. • It can be added to an adjective to form an adverb. • Reluctant-reluctantly • Intention- • Sudden- • Insistent-

  5. Homographs • Words that are spelled the same but have different meanings and usually pronunciations. • A DRESS –means formal speech • ADD ress- the place where something is located

  6. Amazing Words • Revive: to bring back to life or consciousness • The fireman revived the man with his air tank. • Expedition: a journey for some special purpose such as an exploration and scientific study • The team went on an expedition to the Inca ruins.

  7. Vocabulary • Compressions- pressing • Frank is grateful the doctor used chest compressions to save his father. • Grumbled-complained • The students grumbled when the teacher told them they had a test.
