Our Investment Strategy How to Make the Trend Your Friend
Goals for Today • Show you what we have come to believe • How we are putting that into practice for ourselves and our clients • How that might affect you
When to be Invested • In the market when the trend is Up • Out of the market when the trend is Down This is our first belief: • We believe we can reduce your losses and increase your overall return over time.
What is Important? • It is not so much what you make when the market goes up…. • It is what you keep when the market goes down!
Growth • When the stock market is up, that is growth. We want to be invested in Growth Investments during those periods when the market trend is up.
Decline • When the stock market reverses (goes down), we do not want to be a part of that trend. Instead, we want to keep as much of our investment base as possible by shifting to interest earning assets, until the trend is up again.
The S & P 500 IndexOctober 11, 2007 to March 9, 2009 1,576.09 October 11, 2007 676.53 March 9, 2009 <899.56> 57% loss What do you have to earn to get back to where you started? 133%
Risk • We are not willing to hold on for the long term while the value of our investments continue to evaporate. This is our second belief: • We believe it is not a good idea to lose money.
