Acts 24:24-27 24 But after certain days, Felix came with Drusilla, his wife, who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ Jesus. 25 And as he reasoned of righteousness, and self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was terrified, and answered, Go thy way for this time; and when I have a convenient season, I will call thee unto me. 26 He hoped withal that money would be given him of Paul: wherefore also he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him. 27 But when two years were fulfilled, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus; and desiring to gain favor with the Jews, Felix left Paul in bonds.

Seekers of Convenience • Genesis 19:15-20Sought a near place • Lot’s wife died from desire for the near place • Lot’s daughters needed more distance from evil • 1 Kings 12:25 Convenient religion • Jereboam said it was too far to go to Jerusalem • Offered a convenient, but unauthorized religion

  10. Seekers of Convenience • Matthew 25:1-13No preparation • Foolish came as they were without preparations • Wise made extra provision to have enough oil • Matthew 25:14-30Buried talent • One talent man: “I knew you to be a hard man” • Did nothing & was condemned

Seekers of Conviction • “I must go on my way” (Luke 13:33) • Necessary to be pleasing to God • Necessary for the salvation of mankind • “As much as in me is” (Rom. 1:15) • Necessary in teaching truth as Paul did (15:20) • Necessary in achieving proper peace (12:18) • Necessary in developing godly character • Necessary in learning truth • Necessary in upholding truth & righteousness

  12. Seekers of Conviction • Must first count the cost (Lk. 9:59; 14:26) • Must take the road less traveled (Matt. 7:13) • Must build on the rock (Luke 6:48) • Must see self as a sacrifice (Rom. 12:1-2)
