Literature: Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 Handouts: * Reading Chart for Sept. 9 – Sept. 15 * Coach #19, Genre: “Decisions, Decisions” Homework: * Read an AR book 20 – 30 minutes daily & record on chart * Coach #10, Genre: “Decisions, Decisions” This will be homework if you do not finish it in class. Assignments Due: None

  2. Today’s Goal: Learn about genres of literature. Outcomes: Define the term “genre.” List six different genre categories and define each one. Locate genre groupings in the classroom and provide specific examples of each genre. Use context clues to identify various genres within a text reading.

  3. Starter #1: How many of you know what the term “genre” means? Can anyone find clues from our room that reveal what the various genres are in literature? Today’s Agenda: * Discuss expectations with weekly Independent Reading Chart * Cornell Notes on “Genre” * Do a Coach Lesson together (“Tennessee Williams”) on Genre * Hand out today’s Coach homework and begin in class (Coach #19, Genre: “Decisions, Decisions”)
