  3. John W. Lennon Born October 9, 1940 Started The Band that became The Beatles He had many musical achievements After The Beatles he became a peace activist. Was shot on December 8, 1980

  4. Paul McCartney • Born June 18, 1942 • Second member to join The Beatles. • After The Beatles he formed a band called Wings. • Named the most successful musician in popular music history followed by John . • He is still singing and composing as well as many other artful occupations.

  5. Ringo Starr • Born on July 7,1940 • The last Beatle to join the band • After the Beatles he wrote music and acted • During his sole career he join with many soloists and groups as drums. • Today he continues to write music

  6. George Harrison • Born on February 25, 1943 • The 3rd to join the Beatles and the youngest to join. • Permanently converted after their trip to India • After the Beatles George continued to record his own solo songs • Died in 2001 from cancer.

  7. The Quarry Men was formed by John • Paul and George join. • The decision on the name “The Beatles” • Deportation from Germany back to England • Paul takes bass. • Ringo joins the band The Early Years 57-62

  8. Beatlemania is the intense fan frenzy for the Beatles in their early years • Started before they arrived in the USA • Peaked at Shea Stadium with 55,600 fans there • Ended when they stopped touring and went back to the studio. Beatlemania

  9. The Beatles left the UK on Feb. 7, 1964 • Arrived at JFK airport on the same day • First televised performance in America was on the Ed Sullivan Show. • First concert in the US was at the Washington Colliseum Arrival in the US

  10. Their international tours started in June of 1964 • While on tour they were introduced to many new drugs • The most popular venue was Shea Stadium • The last venue was Candlestick Park on August 29, 1966 Touring

  11. Retreat to the Studio • “We’re more popular than Jesus” • The first album released after touring was done was Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band • Growing tensions kept pulling the band apart

  12. Further drug abuse continued to show in their songs • Ringo leaves periodically • Yoko Ono is causing a more divided Beatles • Yellow submarine is released and has 4 unreleased songs on it The Studio Part II

  13. Abbey Road is released after john declares he's leaving • Let it Be although recorded mostly before Abbey Road is released as their last album • Let it Be was recorded on top of Apple Studios as their last performance Abbey Road and Let it Be

  14. The Breakup John had left the group on September 20, 1969 April 1970 Paul announces that he’s leaving December 31, 1970 Paul files a lawsuit against the others in order to break up the Beatles

  15. 70s • All 4 published solo albums • Ringo is the only one with an album with all 4 Beatles in it • Harrison had “The Concert for Bangladesh” in August of 1971 • Lennon and Paul never recorded together again 80s • Lennon was shot in New York City December 8,1980 • The Beatles were abducted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame in 1988 90s • Paul drops grudge and the Anthology is made 2000s • George dies of Lung Cancer Nov. 29, 2001 Post Breakup (1970-2000s)
