The Amendment CIVIL TRIALS In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.
In My Own Words With amendment 7 you have the right to a jury. The amount in the civil suit must be more than $20. The amendment applies to civil cases in federal court.
Facts The first 10 amendments is also known as the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights was proposed on 09/25/1789. The Bill of Rights was not ratified until 12/15/1791. George Washington was the President. The 12 state witnesses were: Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The amendment does not generally apply to state courts.
