  2. BACKGROUND • PRE 2005- No alcohol service to general hospital • Alcohol Related Deaths – 1:30 • Alcohol related Ill-health – above national average

  3. Remit • AIMS – to provide specialist consultancy and support to acute services in particular A & E department. • To develop models of specialist assessment and act as signposting and referring agents to secondary and community services.

  4. What’s been achieved • Inpatient service two acute hospitals • Joint working

  5. Challenges • How to provide a service to A & E to capture people presenting out of hours

  6. Alcohol Awareness Clinic • Screening Tool – Audit PC • Brief Interventions • Motivational Interviewing • Signposting

  7. Way Forward • Extend service at Ayr Hospital • Alcohol Awareness Clinic – Ayr Hospital • Joint Working with O/T’s
