  4. Gifts of the Holy Spirit • Wisdom • The ability to see how God isat work in the world. • Knowledge • Helps us better comprehend the purpose of God in the world. • Understanding • We are given a deeper insight into the truths of our Faith

  5. Gifts of the Holy Spirit • Counsel • Also Right Judgement • Choosing between right and wrong • Helps us form our conscience better

  6. Gifts of the Holy Spirit • Courage • Also known as Fortitude • Helps us to not be afraid of taking risks as Christians

  7. Gifts of the Holy Spirit • Piety • Also known as Reverence • Loyalty and respect for God and the Church • Fear of the Lord • Also known as Wonder and Awe • An awareness of the Glory and majesty of God

  8. Opposites of the Gifts: Ignorance: Ignoring God’s presence in the world and turning a blind eye to what He is doing. Combats: Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding Fear: Being afraid to be a Christian Combats: Courage

  9. Confusion: Giving us false messages as to what we should or should not do. Combats: Counsel Disloyalty: Being unfaithful, or disrespectful to God and His Church Combats: Piety Pride: Thinking you are greater than God Combats: Fear of the Lord
