1. Introduction to Matrix Equations Solving Linear Systems Using Inverse Matrices In this ppt. we will show students how to write a matrix equation. We will show them how to enter matrices into their calculator and how to use the calculator to use inverse matrices to solve the system. In this ppt. we will show students how to write a matrix equation. 2. First, lets start with a system. 7x + 5y = 3
3x 2y = 22
Using elimination, we needed to decide which variable to eliminate. Then we had to multiply by the appropriate factor(s) to eliminate that variable by adding the equations.
Now, we are going to learn to change this system into a matrix equation.
3. A Matrix is a rectangular arrangement of numbers. We are going to arrange the numbers and variables of this system into specific rectangular matrices.
First, we will place the coefficients of our variables into a coefficient matrix. The
x-coefficients will be in one column and the
y-coefficients will be in another column. Each equation will be in one row.
4. 7x + 5y = 33x 2y = 22
