UNIVERSITY OF MOSTAR - HISTORY • 1895 - Origins from the Franciscan School of Theology – the first school at university level founded in Mostar, Herzegovina • 1959 – the Higher Technical School, mechanical engineering founded in Mostar • 1970/71 - the Higher Technical School became department of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Sarajevo • 1971/72 – departments of the Economics and Law were established • 1977 – Independent University Center was established in Mostar • 1992 – University of Mostar

University of Mostar – FOUNDERS • Founders of the University of Mostar are the cantons with the Croatian majority in Federation of BiH: • Herzegovina-Neretva, • West-Herzegovina, • Central Bosnia, • Posavina and • West Bosnia. • Center of the University of Mostar is in the capital city of Herzegovina – in Mostar.

University of Mostar - MISSION • The University's mission is the best reflected through three basic features: • Education - based on excellence, which through the teaching and research process focuses on students in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate studies, preparing them to be highly professional, self-motivated and productive experts in both their activities existing and future as well. • Scientific-research work - based on excellence and integration of educational process at all levels in order to train new generations of researchers to be capable for the international research market. • Development of our community in general - educational, artistic and scientific- research work since the University is the main agitator of overall economy, cultural and social development not only in the Region but wider at both levels national and international; through its activities, the University promotes the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of our community on regional, national and international level.
