  5. Why does it matter? • 31,964 households accepted as homeless or potentially homeless • Impact on landlords • Impact on people and communities • £150,000 new build cost

  6. Case study 1 • Waiting list applicant – subject due to move into new build 4 bedroom property. • Investigation established subject had falsified details of her household. Offer withdrawn and allocated to genuine applicant.

  7. Case study 2 • Homeless applicant – subject presented as homeless provided proof of homelessness as a result of relationship breakdown • Investigation established subject had tenancy of private let in other local authority area and documents supplied were forged. Subject reported to Procurator Fiscal.

  8. Case study 3 • Homeless applicant - subject presented as homeless stated resided with family member who could not longer accommodate. • Investigation established subject had Housing Association in Glasgow. Subject withdrew application, case reported to Procurator Fiscal.

  9. Case study 4 • Homeless applicant - subject presented as homeless stated resided with family member who could not longer accommodate. • Investigation established subject owned a property in Glasgow, which she resided in. Case reported to Procurator Fiscal.
