OSP Mission The mission of the Student Government Association Organizational Seating Program is to fairly and efficiently allocate reserved seating as a reward to those organizations whose members demonstrate academic excellence. “I believe in education, which gives me the knowledge to work wisely and trains my mind and my hands to work skillfully.” –George Petrie (1945)
Things to Know • Any registered Auburn student organization may compete. • The competition solely based on organizational GPA. • In order to compete for block seating for the 2017 football season, your organization must submit a signed contract to the SGA Advisor’s office and an Excel membership roster on AU Involve by 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 13th, 2016. The roster must include names, email addresses, and user IDs. • Rosters should only include members who will be eligible for student tickets for the 2017 football season and who plan to remain active in their respective organization. • Roster changes may not be made at any point after initial submission.
How GPA is Calculated (Fall 2016 organizational average GPA + Spring 2017 organizational average GPA) 2 Example: Organization A achieves the following semester GPAs leading up to the Fall 2017 football season. • Fall 2016 Organizational Average GPA = 3.11 • Spring 2017 Organizational Average GPA = 3.42 Final Organizational GPA Awarded = (3.11+3.42)/2 = 3.265
FAQ Q: Is cumulative GPA or semesterly GPA considered in this calculation? Grades from previous semesters are not considered, so each organization begins the year with a blank slate. The organizational average GPA earned in the fall 2016 semester and in the spring 2017 semester are the only factors.
FAQ Q: Will more weight be given to upper level coursework? No. Due to the subjective nature of assigning course difficulty, no extra weight will be given to any particular course. Q: What if a student gaps a class? Regardless of circumstance, ungappedGPAs will be used.
Calculation of Rows The number of rows an organization is eligible to receive will depend on the size of the organization according to the roster they submit to OSP. Each organization’s base row capacity will be determined by the following formula: (Membership * 1.5) / (24 seats per row)
FAQ Q: Can a single organization participate as multiple entities? No. An organization may only register once, and must register as a chartered university organization with permanent status.
FAQ Q: Is there an adjustment factor for differences in organization size? No. The size of an organization has no bearing on that organization’s ability to produce an excellent GPA.
Enforcement of the Program SGA reserves the right to remove any organization from the Organizational Seating Area due to any reported inappropriate behavior or if attendance is not maintained. • Rows must be completely filled 1 hour prior to kick-off. • Attendance must be maintained throughout the game. Failure to abide by the Organizational Seating Program Rules and Regulations for the OSP Reserved Seating Section may result in removal from the block and forfeiture of all assigned rows.
