5-Year Strategic Plan After 28 years of focusing on Arlington, APAH is now bringing its mission and resources to the region. Strategic Goals: • Create new communities of stability and opportunity by building or acquiring 800 homes by 2022 • Improve the lives of low-income residents at APAH properties and in our communities • Build ardent community support and advocate for the needs of lower-income neighbors

Key Community Challenges Today, almost a quarter of all households in the Washington Metro area pay over 50% of their income on rent.
APAH’s Arlington Pipeline • Westover: 8 properties (68 units) acquired in Westover, delivery in late 2018 • Gilliam Place: 173 affordable units on Columbia Pike, delivery in 2019 • Queens Court: 249 units in Rosslyn, projected delivery in 2021 • American Legion: Partnership with the American Legion to redevelop Post 139 and build 160 new affordable homes, securing funding and entitlements
American Legion Post 139 Vision • 160 rental homes, including 25 3-bedrooms and 87 2-bedrooms to meet the needs of veteran and low-income families • Onsite amenities will include: private counseling spaces, community activity rooms, outdoor barbecue and playground, green roofs • 6,000 SF American Legion facility will be a new hub for innovative programming DCS Design
Strengthen Community Impact • APAH launched the Community Progress Network in 2017 to bring an equity lens to County decision making and achieve better results for families • 30+ service providers, elected officials, County staff, and business leaders working together to evaluate results, identify gaps/opportunities and advocate
Community Progress Network Initially funded by the Citi Foundation to: • Amplify Resident/Client Voice—Quarterly roundtable series brings local leaders to listen to hopes and needs in education, housing, workforce and health. • Broaden Community Engagement—Educate and motivate to embrace equity, promote inclusion, and take action. • Expand Advocacy—Formally incorporate an equity framework into Arlington decision-making processes.
Amplify Resident Voice • Create Ongoing Listening Sessions with Low-Income Residents • Develop and engage resident/client leaders • Involve elected officials, nonprofit and County leaders as listeners • Create a network of speakers, advocates, and leaders
Transforming Lives through Resident Services • Strengthening families through health and wellness; education; financial literacy; and civic engagement • Partnering with 20+ partners to design and deliver high-quality, high-impact services
