Curriculum • Based on the Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) ~ online • Differentiation to meet the needs of all students • Math: fluid groups created with pretest results • Reading: • running records taken periodically to determine groups (fluency, expression, and comprehension) • Groups focus on reading leveled books while practicing skill for reading story

Daily Schedule • Subject to change • Best time for doctor’s appointments is after lunch • Associate (Ms. Ryals) times on pamphlet (math, reading, and writing conferences)
Grades • 10 pt. grading scale • New report card format • 3 reporting periods-12 weeks • Student led conferences at the end of the year • All students working on or above grade level and will be graded accordingly.
Evaluation Schedule • Tuesdays: reading every week • Wednesdays: science/social studies • Thursdays: • science/social studies • spelling every other week • Note: Notice given in agenda for science/ss (1 week prior) • Fridays: • writing assessment every other week • math quiz/test every week • Rollercoaster Madness quiz (2 min.)
Homework Expectations • Monday-Thursday • Reinforces what is taught • No more than an hour combined • Parents will be emailed if homework is not complete • No homework…no recess! • Tips on pamphlet (ex-quiet place)
LEAP • Basic/ approaching basic needed to pass on reading and math • Science and social studies do not count towards passing but are a focus for our school • Must pass LEAP + 4th grade to go to 5th grade • April 12-16, 2010 • LEAP FUN WEEK: Confidential (sign up)
Attendance • Attendance is very important ~ LEAP • Tardy @ 7:45 am • Email me 1st thing in the morning or the night before so that work can be sent to the office for afternoon pickup. • Tests/quizzes given on day of return • Check in/out in main office ~ No child can be released from classroom (exception ~ parties)

Field Trips • Goal is to have a field trip for each transdisciplinary unit. • Chaperones are always welcome ~ Sometimes there are limits to the number allowed.

Dress Code • White, black, or Gold Shirt (Must have U logo) • Any bottoms • Shirt tails • Boys: belt loops are needed with a belt
Miscellaneous • Nurse: must know about all medical conditions and meds • School & Class News is electronic: make sure that your email address is updated • Supplies: You will be notified for payment. • Book Order forms: Please combine orders and send one check made out to Scholastic • Lunch visitors: 12:10-12:30
