In the United States, it is against the law to possess lewd photographs of minors. A New York lawyer is petitioning for federal sexting legislation that would make sexting a misdemeanor for minors” (Roberts, 2005, p. 22).

  4. According to the New York Times interview with NYC high school students, many teens feel that sexting is a positive tool due to the fact that is safer in a way. They can’t get pregnant, no STD’s, and is a kind of safe sex. • Also, they believe sexting is not an issue with many girls because they have confidence in their body and don’t mind what other people are going to say or see (New York Times, 2011).

  5. I truly believe sexting for children under the age of 18 is a crime and also that it should be illegal. Many parents are not really involved in their children’s lives and many are. This can be an example of wanting attention from parents or attention from people around them such as boyfriend/girlfriend. • Parents should teach their children more about respecting themselves and the reality of being in a relationship at a young age. Sex it’s a serious topic. Parents should have this conversation with their children at a young age before they make a mistake such as sending nude photos of themselves
