  1. Installation Questionsabut the cooling water manifolds for the FD quads& sextupoles. Questions for Araki, Terenuma &/or Sugahara to answer before mid-January 2008 From Cherrill Spencer and John Amann ,SLAC ATF2 magnet group Water manifolds for FD magnets

  2. How to deal with many cooling water hoses for the final doublet quadrupoles • Each FD quad has 8 cooling water inputs and 4 outputs which use US standard 37° flare water fittings- non-conducting hoses attach to them. • To simplify installation, SLAC proposes to use 2 manifolds for each quad. One 8-way for input and 4-way for output. • Will use JIS 30° flare ¾-14 water fitting to connect to KEK water system. This fitting will be tapped into manifold body with ¾-14 PT. It can be connected with hard pipe instead of JIS 30° flare if desired. • The 8-way manifold is 13”long x 3” diameter; the 4-way manifold is 7” long and 3 “ diameter– see drawings on next slide • Outstanding Questions for KEK people: • We do not want to mount these manifolds on the quad cores nor on the FD support table, in case they generate extra vibrations • Can the manifolds be mounted on the shielding wall to the side of the FD support table? • See next slide for more questions Water manifolds for FD magnets

  3. Suggested designs for the 2 LCW manifolds for the ATF2 FD quadrupoles ( 2 of each type per quad) 4-way manifold:the Synflex hoses which go from manifold to quad will have US water-fittings on each end.  The manifolds have a large BSPT thread at the end for connection to KEK water system (Japanese standard). 3” diameter & 7” long How long to make the hoses? Depends how far to wall. 8-way manifold. 3” diameter & 13” long We have drawn a generic “strap” with 2 bolt holes. Please let us know what kind of mounting you want Water manifolds for FD magnets

  4. FD Sextupoles will have cooling hoses also – 2 hoses each • The FD sextupoles have one cooling water circuit each too. • Will need one input hose and one output hose each. • They could have two new manifolds with 2 fittings for each manifold. • They would also be mounted on the nearby wall. • Question for KEK people: do you want us to make some manifolds for the FD sextupoles’ cooling water?
