  1. Information on top of the QC3 style quads that will become QD0 and QF1. For David Urner.3rd July 2007 Cherrill Spencer, SLAC Member of ATF2 Magnet Team Cherrill Spencer, SLAC. Info on top of FD ATF2quad for D. Urner

  2. Revised core model showing enlarging the “QC3” quad’s bore diameter Trim coils that went in the slots will be removed. Place a very flat and precise thickness shim in each split plane to “explode” the quad and enlarge the bore diameter. Shim will be low carbon steel, ground to 0.0005” flatness- are being made. Cherrill Spencer, SLAC. Info on top of FD ATF2quad for D. Urner

  3. We are making detailed drawings which we lack of this quad- fab’d in Russia about 17 years ago Here’s a quad being measured in April. This is the terminal end. You can see the orange LCW hoses coming out of blocks that attach to the coils, they stick up vertically. THESE WOULD BE IN THE WAY OF YOUR 50cm long mounting plate put on top. Nothing else is in the way. Cherrill Spencer, SLAC. Info on top of FD ATF2quad for D. Urner

  4. Here is a photo of the top surface of an ATF2 FD quad before modification Orange steel core is 45 cm long. This end has the LCW hoses that attach to the coils Light green trim coils will be removed Tooling ball holder will be removed Power terminals are not in the way This end is quite empty Cherrill Spencer, SLAC. Info on top of FD ATF2quad for D. Urner

  5. We can replace the straight hose fittings with 90º elbow ones This fitting is 2.5cm away from end of core and ~1mm below top surface. We can replace it with an elbow fitting so LCW hose sits horizontal rather than vertical. 2.5cm Cherrill Spencer, SLAC. Info on top of FD ATF2quad for D. Urner

  6. Compare the two ends of the FD quads: one clear, one not Core is 45cm long, Urner et al need to mount a plate ~50cm long on top of quad. Spencer thinks this can be done. KEK alignment fixtures need to be integrated in this scheme. All trim coils like this will be removed. These posts are to hold terminal covers- covers can be redesigned. This straight fitting will be replaced by a 90º elbow one Cherrill Spencer, SLAC. Info on top of FD ATF2quad for D. Urner

  7. New drawing of modified FFTB quad core- with new shims 45 cm 7.171”= 18.2cm Cherrill Spencer, SLAC. Info on top of FD ATF2quad for D. Urner

  8. Here’s photo of non-terminal end poletips (ignore the drooping vacuum pipe!) More space here for your retro-reflectors These 4 trim coils will be removed and shims put in at these split planes Cherrill Spencer, SLAC. Info on top of FD ATF2quad for D. Urner
